I’m really excited because today I’m going to talk to you about some health benefits of sex.

A lot of those benefits are things that you can also obtain with certain forms of self pleasure.

Of course, it goes without saying that I am talking about consensual sex.

A lot of the natural chemicals that are being created through sex have more researched benefits than the ones I mention below, but this will give you an overview.

1. PEA

Having regular sex boosts the production of hormones like PEA, which speeds up the metabolism of fat and also helps to curb cravings and regulate appetite.



Regular sex also releases DHEA, which is like a natural anti aging because it helps to get supple skin.
It also boosts the brain, and some studies have shown that it can help with depression. 

3. Serotonin

Sex also releases serotonin, which a neurotransmitter that basically makes us happy.
It helps to regulate emotions, therefore it can help to decrease depression and anxiety.

4. Immunoglobulin A

Studies have shown that women who have regular sex had 1/3 of a higher level of immunoglobulin A in their bodies. 
Immunoglobulin A is an antibody that helps to fight off flus and colds.

5. Good Against Cramps

Orgasms are really good when you have cramps during your period. 
I know it’s not the time where we really want to necessarily have an orgasm, but it can really help to release the cramps, and of course you don’t need to have sex to have orgasms 

6. Oxytocin

Sex also releases oxytocin, which is the cuddle hormone, it’s also a feel good hormone and helps to create more trust and bond between people. 
By the way, you can also release oxytocin with a breast massage or by cuddling with someone.

7. Vasopressin

We also release vasopressin during sex, which is a bond-strengthening hormone as well.

8-9. Lymphatic System and Blood Flow

Sex can help with blood circulation and with the lymphatic system, which helps to flush out toxins and it can be good for blood pressure.

10. PC-Muscles

Having sex strengthens the pelvic floor muscles.
Strong and healthy pelvic floor muscles (meaning they are strong but relaxed, not in a constant tension) help prevent urinary incontinence as well as bowel prolapse. 
You can also do pelvic floor muscle exercises with a jade egg or some kegel.

11. Vitality

12. Self-love and -confidence

To me one of the biggest benefits of sex is self-love and confidence. This influences way more than only the bedroom. 
It’s incredible to experience our own bodies and their capacities to be ecstatic and blissful, emotional, deep, connected. It can create a deep level of love and gratitude for the body.
